Symptom Attic - Lyrics & Credits

Exploring the dance between a doctor and patient as the story unfolds.

You’ve got a 20 minute session to make a good impression.

Just tell me what you’re trying to say.

You’ve got a nasty friend; the agony won’t end.

And you think that friend is fixin’ to stay.

Say would you take a pill for whatever makes you ill?

Or is that a way too much like giving in?

“A pill is way too fake” you say, not enough to take away

The weight of your original sin.

Please try to take it, oh can’t you make it, please make it go away.

Oh try to make it, please wont you take it, please make it go away.

(Please try to take it, oh can’t you make it, never let it go away.

Ooo don’t you take it, oh never take it, never make it go away.)

You tell me that your spouse is a louse around the house

And sometimes you like to get away.

But I’m getting way too close, stickin’ in my nose.

Perhaps we’ll talk another fine day.

Please try to take it, oh won’t you make, please make it go away.

Please would you take it, oh won’t you make it, please make it go away.

(Please won’t you take it, never never take it, never make it go away.

Oh never take it, never never make it, never make it go away.)

The stress reaction is automatic.

We reach up into our symptom attic.

We don’t know that the pain in our brain

Is bleeding out of a hole in our soul

And we can’t let it go.  Oh no!

Would you open up your heart, oh that would be a start!

That might make your pain go away.

But I’m getting way too close, too close to diagnose,

But I know that you’ll be back again some day.

You never know what you’re gonna say, when the stakes are riding high.

The memory fades, but the symptom stays; stays right by your side.

Won’t you won’t you take it, please won’t you take it, won’t you make it go away?

I can live without it, even though you doubt it.  Please make it go away.

(Don’t you don’t you take it, please don’t you take it, never make it go away.

I can’t live without it, even though you doubt it, never make it go away.)
